During a walking tour of the premises, your guide explains the history and significance of these remarkable remains dating from the civilization that existed here about 1300-1200 B.C. The main tower is an excellent example of Sardinia's earliest inhabitants, who remain a prehistoric enigma. Ancient writers called them the 'Nuraghic' people, named after their stone dwellings, the 'Nuraghi'. These structures are unique to Sardinia, just as the Aztec pyramids are to Mexico.

Capo Caccia Belvedere

Next your drive continues on to Capo Caccia Belvedere, where a photo stop is made for spectacular panoramic views of the Coral Riviera, or 'Riviera del Corallo'. After the photo stop, re-board the coach for the approximately one-hour drive back to Alghero. Upon arrival, take a walking tour of the Catalan-styled Old Town.

The maze-like narrow lanes and piazzas of Alghero old town protrude out into the Mediterranean from the regular grid of streets that now constitute the modern town. This geographical aspect and the strategic position of Alghero on the North West coast of Sardinia led to the construction of massive sea facing city walls to guard against maritime threats from this direction.

Alghero marina is situated just outside the walls and immediately beyond is the town beach of Alghero also known as the Lido. This long expanse of white sand stretches for 3 miles (4.8 km) to the town of Fertilia and is backed by numerous hotels and apartments.

Following your walking tour, some free time is made available to browse the local shops at your leisure before re-boarding the coach to reach the venue Azienda Agrituristica Ledà d'Ittiri for the wine tasting.

Alghero historic centre is rich in history, over time in the city many populations followed one another, including Phoenicians, Romans and Spaniards. The latter left a great mark, especially in the architecture of the city.

The best way to see this appealing walled town with its distinctly Spanish flavour is on-foot. The tour will start through Porta a Mare (the current Porto Salve), one of the old entrances of the city, arriving in Piazza Civica, the heart of the city with its important buildings. We will continue our cultural tour along the route of the Aragonese towers and defensive walls, and then go inside and come across historical buildings, churches, squares and symbolic places.

Take some pictures from the Belvedere and stop in front the Cathedral (external visit in case of holy mass or closure time).

After the walking tour, relax for a short free time before walking back to mooring point.

Drive 30 minutes to Porto Conte National Park and begin your trek to Punta Giglio, a scenic headland which closes off the Bay of Porte Conte to the east. Explore this unspoiled place within the Mediterranean forest, rich with agaves, prickly pear bushes, with natural caves and a few coves of crystal-clear water.

Witness the spectacular views at the edge of sheer limestone cliffs at Punta Giglio. Sculpted into the rocks here, you can also see one of the largest World War II military settlements in the Alghero vicinity, with the remains of bunkers, tunnels and barracks. Enjoy the view from here of the entire bay of Porte Conte and the headland of Capo Caccia from a unique position. Spanish watchtowers dot the coastline and in the distance of the bays of Porticciolo and Porto Ferro.

Before heading back to port, have a good snack with local specialties in a restaurant of the natural Park.

Following your beach stop, commence the approximately 40-minute ride back to the pier. Upon arrival, return your e-bike and helmet, and return to the ship on-foot.

Nestled in the heart of Sardinia is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites of all of Italy's islands, the ruins of the Nuragic civilization (1900 to 730 BCE). Made of stacked stones and resembling primitive fortresses, these megalithic structures (called nuraghes) number over 7,000 on the island of Sardinia and are incredible to behold in person. See for yourself the Nuraghe of Sant'Antine, one of the best-preserved (and tallest) sites on the island permitting visitors.

Take the scenic one-hour drive to your next destination, the hilltop rural restaurant of Locanda Monte Minerva, which is nestled in the heart of a nature reserve. Relax in a courtyard under oak and olive trees and enjoy a hearty traditional Sardinian lunch, with typical dishes made from local ingredients.

Enjoy a full day of total relaxation and cruise in style along the Coral Coast on an authentic sailing boat, a 1939 gaff-rig top's'l ketch. Used as a traditional fishing vessel for her first fifty years in the northern waters of Denmark and the North Sea, it is now loving her working retirement in the incredibly clear waters of the Coral Coast.

Your vessel for the day was lovingly restored and has been maintained by her English owners, who have provided such memorable experiences that people have continued to return for the last sixteen years the ship has been sailing out of Sardinia.

With a maximum of 12 people on board there is plenty of deck space for everyone to soak up the sun. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, the sailing boat does have a knack for calling the dolphins and it is not uncommon to see them riding her bow wake. Take some time for swimming and experience hoisting sails the traditional way, if the weather is appropriate.
